Brett Hopper (Green Shirt) is an 11-year-old student in grade 6 at Magnetic Hill School in Moncton. She lives with her parents, Ashley and Jordan, and her younger brother, Dylan. Brett was born with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy (SQCP) which affects all four of her limbs and causes her difficulty in speaking clearly and doing everyday life tasks. Brett has received occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech therapy services at school. She follows a personalized learning plan for her educational goals. Brett also visits the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation in Fredericton where she receives Botox injections for the spasticity in her legs in an attempt to avoid additional hip surgeries. Brett has attended camp for 2 years now and is excited to go back for her 3rd time this Summer.
Kaitlyn (Kait) Chiasson (Blue Shirt) is a 19 year old who graduated from Chipman High School in 2022. She lives with her parents, Cindy and Chris, her younger brother, Jacob and younger sister Rose. Kait is a big-time Swiftie! Kait was born with Spinabifida, Scoliosis and Hydrocephalus. She lives with She uses a stander and leg braces as well as a wheel chair and other specialized equipment to help her increase her independence in her everyday life. She has attended camp for 3 years now and is excited to go back for her 4th time this Summer. Kait loves music, puzzles, swimming, and hanging out with her friends.
Both Brett and Kait and new at being an Easter Seals Amabassador ad are excited for this new journey with us. We are so happy to have them join us over the next 2 years to help us to support persons with disabilities across New Brunswick!
